St. Winwaloe is the parish church of Poundstock, situated in a secluded dell by a small stream. Alongside stands its ancient Gildhouse, now a Grade 1 listed building, the best preserved example in Cornwall of a late medieval church house which has been in continuous use since it was built.

Wedding Reception

Poundstock Gildhouse is the perfect, romantic setting for a small, intimate wedding reception. We can offer you a complete package for your wedding reception, which includes the use of the whole building for three days with everything that is needed for 60 formal place settings including table linen and glasses The building has undergone an award winning restoration and consists of an upstairs feasting hall with fully fitted kitchen with a slightly smaller room on the lower level, often used as a bar and for pre meal drinks, on the lower level. Both floors have disabled access and toilet facilities.

The word ‘Bridal’ is derived from ‘Bride ale’ which was one of the forms of church ales for which the Gildhouse was built.

Hire Gildhouse

Hire of the Gildhouse for weddings: The hire charge for a wedding is £800 which includes the use of the whole building for three days and the use of the fully equipped kitchen.  The Gildhouse is equipped for up to 60 formal place settings.

There is a small marquee available for hire at a cost of £35 plus £50 for the use of the churchyard.

If the sale of alcohol is intended the Hirer is responsible for obtaining a license
